May blog: something to delight, something to confuse

The hawthorn is looking quite spectacular in the sunshine.

A memory from 2023. A baby muntjac right beside the track, left there by its grazing mum.

Another memory, one of our open days.

Something odd... we were so pleased to hear the first cuckoos of spring . I tried recording them but of course they stopped immediately. The next week I managed to record 2 cuckoos calling to each other from different spots on the site. I was so pleased and excited.. I played it to a friend. His response " You're joking me... there's nothing there!"

I played it to another friend and got the same response. I can hear the cuckoo. Ok it is not very loud, but I can. I wear hearing aids and the only thing we can think is it might be to do with the frequency my hearing aids are set to. Odd!!

The Rowan is growing well, It was only planted in January 2021.

Steve found an oyster shell in the woodlands. It would be interesting to know how it go there. Are there oysters in the Yare?
