We recently had a table at the Postwick Plant Swap to showcase Blackwater Carr. One person, while looking at our list of supporters, suggested we had everyone except for the Royal family. Well actually….
No mow May has been good for the bees. The paths are full of dandelion heads. Unfortunately for us the month that our ride on mower was submerged in water left the electrics irreparably damaged. Ben Burgess no longer hire smaller ride on mowers, so we are in a quandary.
When recording the number and type of moths from the moth trap we noticed there were far fewer than usual since the storms.
The butterflies were out in force. We saw brimstone, comma, peacock, red admiral, large white, small white and orange tips, both male and female.
How agile the deer are, and how ambitious!
I had never seen a stoat so closely before.
When trawling through the wildlife camera videos we saw that the vixen must have young.
Sadly our appeal to the Secretary of State has been dismissed. We are so disappointed. The inspector felt the yurt fitted in well with the surroundings and was a useful space for research and education but he failed us on being in a flood plain and nutrient neutrality.
We never go to the woods when we get flood alerts from the Environmental Agency and we check the times of high tide.
The Environmental Agency have 22 swims for fisher folk and no toilet facilities at all. It seems strange.
So very sorry to hear this news. Very shortsighted of the BA.
