December- so much rain!

We have not been back to the woodlands this month because of the seemingly endless rain and the frequent flood warnings from Floodline. However, this does not mean work stops. We are pleased to say that our database of nearly 1000 species with their conservation status now forms part of the Norfolk Biodiversity Information Service.

Also, we are proud to say that we have achieved County Wildlife Site status for the woodland. We have yet to sign the paperwork but we are so excited that we couldn’t resist sharing. There is a particular area, which with good management will be of special interest! So another job is researching where to buy or hire a reciprocating mower. We will be using volunteers to help rake up all the mowing. A tough job and more than we can do ourselves.

A very big thank you to all of you who have sent emails supporting our appeal. It is gratifying to see the support we have. It is unfortunate that we have to fight to be able to continue this work. To this end we have put together a S106, a legal document stating the parameters of our expectations Let’s hope this shows just how strong we are in our belief that we are doing the right thing.

Some Autumn delights.
